How to Be a Man or Woman of God in an Ungodly World – part 2

The Word is able to pierce down to the center of your being. It is able to change you from the inside out. The Word is something we have to give our time to so it can penetrate into your soul (Hebrews 4:12). God wants us to know our heart so we can know His heart. We must make room for God in our heart. The Word will let you know what the intents are of your heart. If you reflect on the Word, it is like a mirror that reflects back to you who you are and who God wants you to be. Then you can discern what is of you and what is of God. There has been a long season of dryness spiritually in our country. We have to watch that we are not dry because we are in a dry season. God is going to rain on the church again, but He is asking, “Who wants to be ready?” We are walking in the shadow of the Almighty. We are not from here. Do not mistake your conditions for God’s intentions. Give the Word place in your hearts to move deep inside you. Bring a heart of humility to the Lord. I need You. Let Him and make you “wet” on the inside, so you can help bring rain on the outside to those who are needy. The “mother” of forty parables (pictures of the kingdom) is the parable of the sower and seed. God is in charge. He knows what He is doing. Do we want to know? God sows the Word. God wants to make something out of you and out of the church. First of all, you have to be kingdom-minded. Jesus said the kingdom is at hand. John the Baptist came to prepare people for the coming of the kingdom. Where he was, was in the wilderness. It was a journey to get there. That is what it is like sometimes: you have to go through some things that make you think that it cannot be the kingdom. Sometimes we get into dry spells, and we ask if God is there. Is this religion or reality? Many of us have not seen God radically come to His church and do a work that the world cannot overlook. The seed is in the ground and needs to be grounded. God is working underground. There is a process of the seed-shell to be broken. You need to willingly go. God wants to use you to be something you cannot believe God would use you to do. Let God be God, but some of that process is underground. We are going to bring the war to the terrorists. When the church rises up, it shifts things in the Spirit. The spirit-realm activates what is planted in the ground and says, “Come alive!” The process of what is happening in you will start to work through you. The Word of God penetrates. God knows how to save the world today. He knows how to make the church ready and different. God is the only One who can make you radical. In 1 Timothy 6:11-12 Paul called Timothy, who he was training, “O man of God”. He told him to fight the good fight of faith. We, too, are to lay hold on eternal life. You are called. Many are called, but few are chosen. God wants you to be chosen. You are called to be conformed to His image. We are to enforce the victory that God has won. To get to the end God wants, we have to go through growth. We have to want God. In 2 Timothy 3, Paul again says, “Man of God”. He again told him to fight the good fight of faith. Do not neglect the gift, but stir up the gift. We have neglected some things. Repent and move on past those neglected things. Let the fire of God fall on you. Let the Word have free course through you and this church that men may recognize that God is true. (He prophesied that there is a revival work underground, but it is coming up.) (Rocky shared a dream from the early 2000s. God is seeking out the church in the last day. (There was a word of encouragement about using the gifts God has given each one, followed by the ministry to those who want God’s gifts in them released.) Learn to recognize patterns of what God is doing.

Word given on September 27, 2014 by Larry Hostetter after Rocky Veach preached on “How to Be a Man or Woman of God in an Ungodly World”

You know, I created each one of you. Each one of you is special in My sight, and I put things deep down in your heart, and maybe you think, “I can’t do it! I don’t have the talents and abilities to do it! I’m afraid to do it! I may have the gift in me, but I’m afraid to step out and do it!”

I’m with you. Those giftings which I have placed within you are real. You have them all bottled-up in that seed, but I want to water it. I want to get rid of all the weeds. I want to get rid of everything that would hold you back to be what I want you to be, because those giftings I placed in you, even in your mother’s womb, and I planned them to bring life. I planned them to touch peoples’ lives, but if you don’t allow Me to water you, if you don’t step out in faith and trust in Me to be and do all I’ve called you to do, it’s never going to happen. It breaks My heart, because I created each one of you to be a part of My church, whether it’s to go to your next door neighbor, or it’s to witness at work. When you work in your job, you work for Me first. Oh, indeed you have bosses and indeed you better work properly and well, but I’ll tell you, if you’re working for Me, you’re going to be the best that you can be. That’s what I’ve called you to be. I want you to be the best you can be. This is a tough world, but it’s going to get tougher, and there is so much to do, so I’m asking you, let Me water you. Step out in faith. Take those weeds out of your life, because it’s your job. Those things that don’t belong in your life, I haven’t placed them there. The devil did and he’s out to kill, steal, and destroy, so weed your gardens. Weed your lives. Rid yourself of those things that don’t belong there, and grow in Me. Grow  in My Word. Grow in My understanding, My revelation. I’ve given you the Holy Spirit to help you in that. He is so real. You need to learn to  hear Him, and then you need to learn to be obedient. He’s your best friend. How do you those voices? By the Word of God. The devil whispers in your ears, but you need to know the Word of God. You need to place it in your heart. Then you listen to that voice, that still small voice, and the more you hear it, the more you train your ears by the Word of God, the more you’ll know His voice, and the easier it is to obey. So I’m calling you. Weed your gardens. Get in those showers of blessings, and break open that seed. Break it open so that He can use you. He wants to use you. The Lord wants to use you.

So be faithful, My children. Be faithful because I love you. I died for you, and I have plans for you. Every one of you.

In Acts 19 Paul found men to be men of God in Ephesians. Ephesus was shaken for two years as a result of those men. Preach the gospel of the kingdom. What is God planning to do in the kingdom? Let’s let God do what He wants to do. We need the bold strength of men. Only fear God. Open yourself and let God be God. The book Rocky wrote,Jesus’ Return, came from one year of hearing God to prepare the church. We can let God’s kingdom be in each one of us. Some men are teachers. Some people are builders. It is about what God is doing in you. You need to do your part. Ezekiel and Isaiah said, “I need one man.” Get all the way in! Let God be strong again. Do what He tells you to do. Here’s my heart, Lord. Churches and lives are about ministering to the Lord. Soul and flesh need to be touched and cleansed. God wants to touch that part of you that you like in your flesh. Bring the fight to the enemy. Let God do what He wants to do. (Rocky tells about God telling him to go to Newtown, Connecticut before the Newtown shootings.)

Karen Burrows: God gives us so much including eternal life. Our response to Him should be worship with thanksgiving and in giving. God created us to worship. Sermon: Use the news as prayer requests. Pray and trust the Lord and declare that those evil things that are happening may not enter your house in the name of Jesus. Learn to know when the Holy Spirit is alerting you to pray. It may mean safety and protection for someone. 2 Timothy 3:1, 10-11 says that there will be perilous, fierce times in the last days. God delivered Paul out of them all in his day. Deuteronomy 28:1-14 tells of the blessings of the Lord under the law, if you faithfully obey His voice. Deuteronomy 28:15-61 expounds on the curses if you do not obey His voice. Every plague is part of the curse. Poverty is part of the curse. We are not under the law because Jesus redeemed us from the curse, having been made a curse for us (Galatians 3:13). Jesus took the curse for us! You can walk in divine health. Believe you have been redeemed. Psalm 4:8 tells us that we can lie down and sleep in peace for God makes you dwell in safety. Psalm 91 applies to those who dwell, live, sit, and abide under the protection of the Most High God. It is important what you say. Say, “In my God I will trust!” Because I said that with authority, He will deliver me from the hidden dangers. Be willing to take refuge under His wings, just like a chicken protecting her peeps from a hawk. Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling. He will protect, and He will save, even in these perilous times.

Offering message: God so loved you, He have His only begotten Son, so that you would be in the family of God. Try to outgive God. God wants us prosperous (3 John 2). Why does God want you to be prosperous? 1) (Deuteronomy 8:18) He gives you power to get wealth so that you will establish the Kingdom and covenant of God on earth. 2) (Ephesians 4:28) We work with our hands so that we may have to give to others in need. Jesus was wealthy. He had a treasurer. He was a giver and blesser. When we are blessed with our needs being met, then we meet the needs for others (Philippians 4:19). Be anxious for nothing. Ask God for more so that you can bless others. Sermon message: God make me live securely (Psalm 4:8). The Lord shall preserve you (Psalm 112). Psalm 91 says that if you live under the protection of the Most High, you will dwell in the shadow of the Almighty. The three parts to living safely and securely are: (1) I willsay of the Lord that it is Him in whom I will trust. (Psalm 91:2) (2) Trust in the Lord. What do you trust in? Is it your job, money, gun, ability, preparedness? It is okay to be prepared, but do not trust in that (Psalm 120:7; 60:11-12). Samson could kill the lion easily because the Spirit of the Lord came upon him. (3) I will not fear (Psalm 91:5). You control whether you will yield to fear. You will be tempted to fear. I will fear no evil in the valley of the shadow of death (Psalm 23:4). What is God’s part of keeping you safe and secure? He covers you with His feathers. The enemy is setting traps for you. You do not have to walk into the trap if you listen to the Spirit of God (Psalm 91:3). He knows how to protect you. GOD IS GOOD. THE DEVIL IS BAD. Take authority over what the devil is doing to you. Is everything that happens God’s will? We are to know the will of God. God did not give you sickness or disease. Pastor Syd related an experience in hearing the Spirit of the Lord. He was helping someone build a house. One morning the Holy Spirit warned him, “Watch where you step, or you’ll be crushed.” He needed to help loading logs for the crane operator. He was reminded about what the Lord told him and stepped away from where he was standing. The logs broke loose and fell right where Pastor Syd had been standing. When the enemy has a plan of destruction, the Holy Spirit will warn you. Satan will say things to you to get you into fear. Does what you hear inspire fear or unrest? Are you covered and in the secret place (Psalm 91:4)? Jesus lamented because the people of Jerusalem were not covered, so He could not protect them (Matthew 23:37-39). We are to be alert because our adversary (the devil) prowls seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). (1) Satan roars to inspire fear, giving him access to the person. (2) He has to seek for you, because he cannot find you, unless you open the door through fear. (3) He is looking for someone he may devour. He does not have the power and authority to devour you. James 5:7 says to submit to God, rebuke the devil, and he must flee. What might look like God’s judgment is really the result of people being uncovered, without God’s protection. If there is judgment, God desires to delay it (Luke 13:1-8). Prayer can delay judgment. The prayers of others can spare a person’s life and judgment. Your part for others is to be praying. Pastor Syd read the rest of Psalm 91.

Where Are You

(There was a word of encouragement.) Pastor Israel Jebaraj from India spoke on “Where Are You?” Genesis 3:9 says that God asked Adam where he was. God has a garden for you to take care of: your spouse, your children, and your church. You need to have dominion in your garden. There is a garden for everyone. God comes to your garden to have fellowship with you. Where are you? Are you in your garden today where God wants you to be? Adam and Eve hid from God. The world knows where God is moving. You need to be in the place where God is moving. He wants you to go from glory to glory. In Genesis 3:11 God asks Adam, “Who told you …?” To whom are you listening? Who told you that can’t do this or that? Be hearers and doers of the Word. What are you doing, and to whom are you listening? Elimelech moved from Bethlehem because of a famine (Ruth 1:1), but then he died, leaving his wife, Naomi, and two sons. Question: Are you moved by circumstances or by God? Ruth, one of Naomi’s daughters-in-law, said she would go wherever Naomi went. We need to be where God wants us to be. Be rooted and faithful in your garden. When she went back to Bethlehem with Naomi, she found favor. When you go back to where you are to be, there will be favor. Never give up. Get back on track. When we obey God, He will take us to places we never would have imagined. There is a place, a garden for you. Be there or come back there. Ask yourself: Am I in the perfect will and plan of God? The Lord will guide you to a place. Samuel heard a voice and thought it was Eli’s, but Eli told him to go back to his place. Don’t miss God by not being in your place. Pastor Israel told of sleeping on a concrete park bench with his ministry team. They were very tired from ministering for four days. In the night the Lord woke him up and told him to praise Him and to preach. He woke the others up, and they praised God and he preached. After he was finished, a man came who told him that he was going to commit suicide, but the Lord touched him through Israel’s obedience, and the man was restored to his family and is a believer serving in the church. Go back to your place, your garden. Who told you that you can’t …? Where are you? Are you listening to God? We are to have dominion over the things He planted in you. Like the Good Samaritan, He is coming back for us. Be in the “inn”, the church He planted you in. When He comes back, where will you be? (There was a word that went along with the sermon and was meant to deliver life to someone.)

Word given by Larry Hostetter:

Oh My children, you are so precious in My sight. If you only knew how much I love you. If you could only grasp a little bit of that love that I have for you, of the giftings that I have given you. They are there. They are free, but you have to reach out and take them. You have to trust in Me. You have to walk in the anointing. That power and anointing are way beyond what you can understand, that power and that love, for I sent My only and begotten Son for you. He was willing to come. He was willing to lay down His life for you, everyone one of you, a whosoever. He did it willingly. He rose again, and He now sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty, interceding for each one of you. Remember, His prayers are with you. His prayers are for you. He wants the best for you. He gave His all for you, so now live for Him. Love Him. Love others. Give your life for others, for He did for you, remember that. He did it for you. So walk in His grace and His love. Walk in His power and His anointing, because in you the manifestation of Jesus Christ lives. Wherever you go, He goes. Don’t forget that. He has a love manifested in your life and heart, but it’s there to give away. It’s there to give away, so give it away, My children. Give it away.

Word given by Kevin Burrows:

Kevin Burrows:

Rise above it. When the accusations get louder, rise above it. Come to My secret place. Rise above it all. Let the junk of this world be drowned out by My voice. It’s time to let My voice drown out others’. You spent years, a lifetime, listening to others’ voices above Mine. It’s time to rise up, dust off, and to walk away from the counsel of the past. Seek My counsel. Every one of you, seek My counsel now, because My counsel does not rot. It’s not bitter, but it speaks the truth 100% of the time, the whole truth. It speaks life. Even while My voice goes forth, it imparts life. For many, My counsel will bring immediate healing, both physical and emotional. Others will bring protection and take you to faraway places. Where are My people who are called by My name? Where are you? Where are the ones who will stand up now and hear My voice? You can no longer get what you need from the voices of your leaders. Their voices have been scattered and mixed, but you must turn to Me individually, Me, God! You must turn to Me now.

So rise up and hear My voice of truth. Incline your ears to My written and loud counsel. I will no longer be quiet to you, but I will speak loud and bold.

A Second Time

Text: Genesis 22:12-18. In Genesis 22:15 the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven. The Lord is speaking to you a second time. Samson turned to the Lord a second time, asking Him to remember him a second time. Something is moving from heaven in this place a second time, the anointing a second time. It is party time when you come back to the Lord. The Spirit of the Lord wants to blow on you a second time. When did God come to Abraham a second time? It was when he was going to sacrifice Isaac. He left his servants behind. God wants us to leave something at the bottom of the hill. If goodness and mercy are to follow you, you need to leave something behind. God will provide. The second time visit will be different. The Angel of the Lord first said for Abraham to not lay a hand on Isaac, because He would provide. He is coming back to you with double portion provision. The second time blessing is for future generations. Multiplying I will bless you and your descendants, because you have done these things and have not withheld your son. Your children will be many. Pastor Israel told of a time that four hungry, tired pastors came to his family’s home at dinner time. They fed them first, leaving very little for Israel’s family. His mother prayed for multiplication of the food, and all of the family ate and had plenty. It was multiplied because she first honored and fed the guests. God says, “I want to bless you because you did this.” Keep doing the good work. It’s time to reap because you have done this. Isaac dug a well, and there was water there. He dug more wells, and there was water there, too. He sowed in famine time, and then he was blessed. What are you doing in the church? He will come a second time with a reward for what you have done here. Do you want a second blessing?

My Testimony of the Goodness of the Lord

Pastor Demeke shared the testimony of his life before Christ and after Christ. Psalm 31:21. His father died when he was three years old, and he lived with his mother and three siblings. A communist military government that took over his country captured and tortured young students who were against their government. Demeke told of the torture and imprisonment for fourteen months that he and others endured. After being transferred to another prison, he was released and went home. He went to high school and college. He and some friends escaped to a neighboring Muslim country, going through a desert to get there. He attempted to commit suicide several times, not knowing why he was alive. He started drinking and doing drugs UNTIL one night when a voice came into his spirit to follow Jesus. The voice came again and again. He kneeled down and tried to pray. He saw the suffering Jesus on the cross looking directly at him. He wept and screamed, because Jesus’ love came into his heart. He kneeled for hours on the concrete floor. He understood that Jesus took his punishment. HIS NEW LIFE BEGAN. He had extreme peace and joy! His old habits were gone! He was thirsty and hungry for the Word, but it was hard to find a Bible. God started training and protecting him. God sent a backslidden Christian to pray with him. He saw that God was his provider. Psalm 37:25 says that He does not forsake the righteous. God opened a door for him to be a cook at the American Embassy. The Lord told him to give his paycheck to Him, all of it, which he obeyed. He told of how the Lord miraculously multiplied spaghetti for them. GOD IS THE PROVIDER! Revival broke out from that land. They prayed and fasted and the Holy Spirit came in where they were meeting. It literally rained in the room, and they were filled with and prayed in the Holy Spirit. Young people were attracted to them, but there was persecution. No Christian church was allowed, so they had to meet underground. GOD IS OUR PROTECTOR! Psalm 34:7. They were threatened to be deported. They prayed until the process was over. The officials came, but they never touched them! Then God spoke the impossible. He told them to get out of the country. God told them to go to the Ethiopian Embassy. Even though that wasn’t possible, he obeyed. Whereas others waited months to get in, the gatekeeper let him come right in. He had favor at another door and was told to come back with a photo ID. When he did, he got his passport. He and his later-to-be-wife prayed. He was to get his vaccination, but the Lord also told him to go to the post office. When he went there, there were two envelopes with money for him. God provides! He was able to get a Visa to go to Kenya (more provision), and a miracle happened there, which he didn’t tell about. He married Waguyu. God told him they would have three children and what their names were to be. He told him to go to the American Embassy, and there more favor was given, allowing them to come to the United States. Luke 1:71; Psalm 107:7; Psalm 107:29. God saves us from our enemies, guides us by His Holy Spirit, and takes us to the desired place. Don’t doubt Jesus. He is the real deal.

Go

After three years, Jesus told His disciples to go. Matthew 10:7 says to go and preach. In America we must go inside our country as well as outside. Preach the Word to the ones who will hear it. When you send people out to other countries, be praying here. Reach the world by prayer. Luke 24:49. Pray daily. Give your life to your church. You’re the light here. Find the lost Christians and youth. The Holy Spirit lives in us. The speaker shared how he died and went to hell. He was tied down in six places. The next day was his burial, but then he saw a lot of shiny things in heaven. He didn’t want to go back to his stinky dead body.  Acts 1:8 tells us the power is from above, and we are to go to our Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria and the ends of the earth. We need to be short-term missionaries, so we can see how to pray for the people. God gave him a vision to write a book. He was to build houses, such as prayer houses, a training center, Bible School, and guest houses. Prayer is the key for everything and everyone. Acts 5 and Acts 19 tell of the divine power that is available for us. Do people get healed by being around us or touching our shadow or clothing? Find God’s divine power. Let Him help you. We all are witnesses. Jesus loves you. Be a Bible for others.

Offering message: Love compels you to give. God gave His very best. Why do you give? Godly love has to give. God wanted a people to give to and to love. Luke 6:38 (Give and it shall be given to you. With whatever measure you give, you shall be given.) We have to be good givers and receivers. Just say, “Thank you”, when someone gives you something. Loving means trusting. 2 Corinthians 9:6-12 (As every man purposes in his heart.) Give to God. Receive from the Lord. Sermon: Ephesians 4:1-16. Grace was given to each one according to the measure of the Messiah’s gift. The five-fold ministry is to train and equip in the work of the ministry, to build up the body of Christ. There should be unity of the faith and the knowledge of God’s Son. Matthew 28:18-20 (The Great Commission). All authority was given to Jesus. He told us to go and make disciples of all nations. This includes training in the work of the body and expanding and growing the body. Go out and put into practice what you learn. Prepare the ground with prayer. Mark 16:14-20 tells us to go and act as an agent on Christ’s behalf, laying hands on the sick, casting out demons. This is what we are to do in the world. Unbelief is not believing in the face of evidence.  James 5:13-18 is written to the church; what to do when someone is sick, when you pray. Church has to be happening outside these four walls. Are you listening to the Lord? All of us are commanded to make disciples and to lay hands on the sick. Be looking to be used. Church is about proclaiming the Good News.

John 14:15-20. If we keep God’s commandments, we love Him and Jesus will love us and reveal/manifest Himself to us. Jesus is in me and I am in Him. Don’t separate yourself from God. You have His righteousness. When you obey His commands is to have more of Him. Acts 1:8 says that the disciples would receive power after the Holy Spirit came upon them. Then they would be His witnesses. Acts 1:15 says that they were praying. Church is more than what happens in these four walls. The function is what is happening outside these walls. Acts 2 is about the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. He came upon them so they would receive power. When you receive Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes in you. When He comes upon you, it is for power. When the church gathers together, we worship and get equipped to go out to the battlefield. Live dangerously and He will keep you safe and secure. Even after the disciples were imprisoned, they went back preaching. They were empowered by the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:18-20 (The Great Commission). All authority was given to Jesus. He told us to go and make disciples of all nations. This includes training in the work of the body and expanding and growing the body. Go out and put into practice what you learn. Prepare the ground with prayer. Mark 16:14-20. If you’re not “fishing” for Jesus, you’re not following Him. Everything I need is in this Word. We can obey the Word. We are equipped in boldness. We can go in faith. Father, let Your Spirit be bold in me.  Signs will follow those who believe. Operate in His name always. Luke 10:18-20 (snakes, poison). The disciples went out and preached and signs followed them. In following His commands, you are qualified for His protection.

Psalm 91. God is your shield. Trust Him, and don’t fear. How do we get back after we have stepped out of the secret place? In Judges 6-7 the Israelites hid, the Midianites kept impoverishing them, and finally they cried out to the Lord, and He sent them a prophet. The Angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and said that the Lord was with him and called him a mighty man of valor. He offered the Angel a sacrifice, and he told Gideon not to fear. Gideon later built an altar and gathered all the people together. There was a huge army against them, but the Lord told him to send home those who were afraid. Twenty-two thousand went home, and then the Lord had him eliminate more until only three hundred men remained. He needed encouragement, so the Lord allowed him to hear the Midianites talking about a dream in which the Israelites won. Gideon divided the men up into three groups, told them to take trumpets and pitchers. With only three hundred, they defeated an innumerable amount. The Lord fought the battle for them because they obeyed. Obedience is the key to coming back to the secret place. He will give you step by step instructions. In 1 Samuel 30:3 David and his men’s wives had been captured. His men wanted to stone him. David strengthened himself in the Lord. You build yourself up by speaking to yourself. Speak out words of victory. Pastor Syd read confessions from Charles Capp’s book. He demonstrated how you can declare, pray, and confess the Word to build yourself up in the Lord. First Corinthians 16:13 says to watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. We are to act the way the Word says we are. The words of Psalm 31 are true for us, too. Speak the Word of God into your situation. This is my truth. Submit to His Word. Read the Psalms, such as 27 and 18, as confessions and declarations to strengthen yourself. Your fellowship time with the Lord is so important. Seek His face. Wait for the Lord. Be courageous. He will strengthen your heart. The body should build each other up. If you get out of the secret place, build yourself up in the Word and in the Lord and the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10). What happens in the natural realm happens first in the spiritual realm.

The Three Whens

In Matthew 6:1-8 we are told what to do when we give, when we pray, and when we fast. These are three attributes/principles of a Christian life. God asked us to give (Luke 6:38; 2 Corinthians 9:7). It pleases the Lord and is a matter of the heart (Genesis 8:21; Malachi 3:10). How are we to give? We are to give directed by the Lord (2 Corinthians 9:6-7), out of love (1 Corinthians 13:3), and in humility (Matthew 6:1-3). What are we told to pray? Matthew 9:38 says to pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into the harvest. There are laborers waiting for you to pray to send them out. Why do we pray? We pray to receive our requests from the Lord (Mark 11:24-25), to send out laborers into the harvest (Luke 10:2), and if Jesus needed to pray, we certainly need to (Isaiah 50:4). How do we pray? The Model, Lord’s Prayer shows that we are to have a personal relationship with the Father, keep Him first, pray in line with the Word, repent, and ask for direction. What is fasting? Jesus needed to fast. He fasted for forty days in God’s presence. Food is the life source for my flesh. When my spirit gets filled, my flesh also gets filled. Denying the flesh enhances the spirit. Seek first the kingdom of God. Give, pray, and fast.

Texts: 1 Corinthians 13:1-3,12; Matthew 6:1-18; James 1:1-7; Mark 4:3-7, 18,19. The Word is what makes us free. The Word was with God and was God (John 1:1). The seed is the Word. Sowing the Word into your heart is sowing the life of God. How do we apply the Word? We apply it by giving, praying, and fasting. Do we schedule time to be with the Father? Separate yourself from what distracts you from being with the Lord. Renew your mind. We get “dirty” when we are in the darkness of the world. The Word washes off the “dirt”. Try fasting and see how it changes you. Obey the Word, and your flesh will line up with your spirit. You will have trials and testings. Consider it joyful with endurance and patience. Patience means constant and consistent. Be ready for trials or temptations by being built up in the Word. Ask God for strength. Sowing the Word is how we build ourselves up to get free. Keep in the Word. What does a false gospel look like? A false gospel is about “I”, “me”, or “my” desires. Jesus had no “I” in Him. Galatians 2:20 tells us that we have been crucified with Christ. The “I’ comes up when we are not in the Word. Sowing the Word keeps down the “I”. We can enter into His rest when the gospel is mixed with faith. Stay constant in the Word.

How to Be Free

(Notes in addition to Saturday’s notes.) Revelation of the Word sets us free. We sow the Word into our lives continually, or death will try to come in. Even if you do not understand the Word, obey it, and you will get the fruit of it. When you give, pray, and fast means that you do those things. You will lose to darkness if you fight in your own strength, but if you push against a trial with the Word, you will be strengthened and victorious. What you put in will come out when you are tested. Fight from a position of victory. The soil determines the aftermath of the seed. The power comes through doing the Word. Josh told the story of a little boy trying in his own strength to move a large stone out of his sandbox. The father watched and when the stone was wedged against the wooden frame, his father said that the little boy did not use all the strength he had, because he did not ask him (his father) to help. We need to ask for the Father’s help. Sometimes we take in a false gospel. The false gospel involves “I” focus, and not the complete Word and love focus. “I” needs to die. The love of God needs to be above the “I”. Get into the Word. Have God-time. Just as an animal will take poison if it is wrapped in food, watch that you do not “eat” Satan’s poison (lies) by believing part-truths. Be hearers and doers of the Word. You know how much of the love of the Father you have by how hard it is to lay something down. The number one thing is to stay in relationship (fellowship) with the Father. Do not wonder around in the trials. Let the Word push against the trial. You will know if you are letting the Word work by your resting in the Lord. Sow the Word in your life. Be people of the Word consistently.

Psalm 91. Faith for protection comes from hearing the Word on it. Our part to protection is #1 Say God is my refuge and my fortress. #2 Have faith and trust. #3 Do not fear. God’s part in verse 3 is to care for us, deliver us, and cover us. The world is not a safe place to live, but you can be safe in it. Psalm 91:11 and 12 tell us that God has angels to protect us, and He will give them orders concerning us to protect us. Our part is to have faith. Psalm 34:7 says that the LORD encamps all around those who fear and honor Him, and He delivers them from danger. We have a personal angel. Matthew 18:10 says the little ones have angels, and they do not leave when the little ones grow up. Do not try to test your angel. Angels are created, whereas we are born. We are sons of the Most High; the angels are not. Angels are not feminine. Hebrews 13:2 relates that we can meet and interact with angels without knowing it, because they can take on human form. Do not look for angels, and do not worship them. Do not pray to or converse with angels. We can talk to God through the Holy Spirit. Make sure what they say lines up with the Word of God. If it does not, it might be an angel of light (of the devil). There are doctrines of devils. God’s angels are powerful. In 2 Kings 19:32-37 (and 2 Chronicles 32:21) the angel of the LORD struck down 185,000 people, who were like the special forces of that army. Psalm 68:17 tells us that there are thousands of thousands of angels. Elisha prayed that his servant would be able to see that there were more angelic forces than physical enemies. There is rank among angels, such as archangels. What is our part in working with angels? Psalm 103 notes that angels obey God’s Word, listening to the voice of His Word. Hebrews 1:13 and 14 say that ministering spirits are for those who will inherit salvation. Our part is to speak the Word of God. Acts 12:1-19 is about an angel freeing Peter from prison, while the church was praying. Sixteen lives were lost to save Peter, because the guards were executed for letting a prisoner “escape”. Angels assisted Lot and his family, the three men in the fiery furnace, Daniel in the lions’ den, and Paul and Silas in prison. God respects (honors) faith, not people. How do we qualify for God’s protection? We must be in the secret place. We must be obedient – going and telling others about the Word and Jesus. The Lord has given His angels charge over you.

Offering message: Three rules concerning your finances are: 1. Give your full tithe. 2. Do not complain about prices and your finances. 3. Thank God for His faithfulness in your income. Do not pull out your seed with negative words. Offering Scriptures: Deuteronomy 28:1, 8; 14:22,23; Proverbs 18:20, 21; John10:10; Romans 4:17; Acts 16. Sermon: Psalm 4 (especially verse 8); Psalm 91. You have to choose in faith to receive God’s protection like you choose His salvation. Your part is to make Him your God and to say that He is your God and that you trust in Him. Also, you must resist fear. God’s part is that He will deliver you, cover you, and shield you. God also protects us by His angels, which you must make sure you do not dismiss by your words. Psalm 31:1-4 shows another way God protects you- by warning you. He leads and guides us. Pay attention to His voice. Proverbs 27:17 tells about the sensible person seeing and hiding from evil, whereas the simple one goes ahead and gets punished. Ezekiel 3:17, 18 tell the watchman to give warnings so that lives are spared. We must listen to God’s leading. Matthew 2:12-22 tells about God warning the wise men and Joseph by an angel in a dream. His warnings are part of His protection. Do not blame God for what happens when you have been warned by Him to do or not to do something. Pastor Syd told powerful experiences of when he did not listen to God’s warning and when he did. His son, Carson, is alive because he listened and obeyed. Sometimes you will have to do something because of a dream, and other times you may have to pray about it to prevent it. Do not override God’s warnings. Noah was warned and it took over a hundred years for the fulfillment to come. It is never God’s will for someone to die in an accident. He warns people. Be faithful to His warnings.

Safe and Secure – Do Not Ignore God’s Warnings

We are self-deceived if we think we are doing our part of Psalm 91 and 4:8 just because we know that we should be trusting God, but we are not really doing it. There are hundreds of phobias. One spirit of fear invites in other spirits of fear. We can be self-deceived by fear. Fear paralyzes. Shut the door to fear by speaking to it with authority in the name of Jesus and rebuke it. It is NOT okay to let any fear in, because God cannot protect you if you do. Psalm 31:2 tells us that God leads and guides us. Pastor Syd told of the time that Jen’s father was piloting his plane with eight people on board. The front landing wheel was locked in at a 45 degree angle. He trusted God and saw His miraculous help. To not get in Satan’s net, be led by God. He warns us (Proverbs 27:12). Do not override or ignore His warnings. Pastor related about a time he did not heed the inward witness of the Holy Spirit and was in an accident. An accident does not always mean that someone is in disobedience or in sin. God will give warnings, so pay attention. In Acts 27:9-31 Paul perceived that the voyage he was going on was going to encounter disaster, but no one would heed his warnings. Sometimes you do not have any input into decisions that can lead to dangerous places. Even so, like Paul, if you walk with God through it, He will give favor to you and even to those with you. Jeroboam willfully ignored God’s warning, and the man who delivered the warning God clearly gave him also ignored God’s warning. The latter man trusted in man, overriding what God told him to do and ended up being killed by a lion. How do you know if you are in fear or if God is warning you? Pastor Syd shared an experience of sensing fear about boarding a plane. He went to a bathroom to get alone with God to ask Him about it. He started to have peace, so he knew it was okay to get on the plane. If you are not sure, get into God’s presence, because the spirit of fear will not be there. Train your spirit to be alert to God’s Spirit.

Safe And Secure – Faith or Presumption

Psalm 91. How do we abide in God? In 1 John 3:23, 24 we are told that whoever keeps God’s commandments abides in Him. What are His commandments? We are to believe on the name of Jesus Christ and to love one another. We are responsible for what we allow. The parent must not permit fear in his/her house. If you are dealing with an issue, keep fighting until you get rid of it. Do not give up and do not get into condemnation. Jesus was tempted by Satan (Matthew 4:5-10), but He knew the Word. We must know the Word and rightly divide it. Do not tempt or test the Lord. Bringing something to your awareness is God’s protection. We must accept the protection that He gives in the form of a warning. There are many examples in the Bible of God’s giving a warning. In Matthew 12:14 Jesus became aware of the plot against Him and withdrew. In Acts 14:5, 6 the disciples knew violence was being attempted against them, and they fled. It is spiritual pride to think God will protect you when you know not to do what you are doing, and you do it anyway. Being made aware of something is a warning. There may be times when you are impressed to go somewhere, but the Lord may give you a word to tell you to stay (Acts 9:10-19). Ananias knew it was dangerous to go to Saul, but he had a word from the Lord to go. If there is a dangerous situation, you need a word from God to know what to do. Are we money-led, family-led, or Spirit-led? In Acts 9:23-30 Saul learned about a plot to kill him. Jehoshaphat had to prepare to fight, but the Lord told him He would be with him and that it was His battle. If a person would know that a thief was coming, he would have not allowed his house to be broken into (Matthew 24:43). Ask God what you need to do and then prepare. Faith without works is dead.

Texts: Psalm 4:8; Psalm 91. Even if your flesh is shaking when you are afraid, your heart should not be afraid (Psalm 27:1). We have spiritual authority over things that want to kill, steal, and destroy (Psalm 91:13). If you submit to God, you can resist the devil, and he will flee from you. We can stump on the enemy. In Luke 9:1 and 2 Jesus gave the disciples power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases. In Luke 10: 1, 9, and 17 He sent out 70 disciples with authority over sickness, and they came back amazed that demons were subject to them because they had authority in Jesus’ name. Lions, serpents, and scorpions represent spiritual enemies. Jesus gave power in His name over things that are spiritual and natural (Mark 16:15-18). Satan tempted Jesus by using the Word that he knew Jesus knew (Luke 4). We must rightly divide the Word and ask how a verse matches with other Scriptures. Do not tempt God by putting yourself in a dangerous situation. Jesus’ word to the disciples was that they would go to the other side of the lake (Luke 8:22-25). If you are operating in the will of God, you can apply the power and authority of the name of Jesus Christ. It is only when you are submitted to Jesus that you have power and authority. You can be bold if you are where you are supposed to be. God will bring you the whole way (Psalm 91:13-16). If you are not where you need to be, repent. Then you will have long life. The Lord watches over His Word to perform it.

The Secret to Joy

Saturday December 27, 2014

People are watching us and how we interact with each other. Everywhere Paul went he went there was a revival or a revolt. Paul and Silas were wrongfully-accused and in pain, but they were praising God and ministering to the other prisoners (Acts 16:23-34). The earthquake opened all the doors and loosed all the chains, but no one fled. The prisoners stayed because they heard something they wanted. You must know, follow, and fulfill the will of God for your life. Paul knew what the will of God was, because God had given him a vision (Acts 16:9-10). At the beginning of 2014 Pastor Jay and his wife, Kim, prayed and fasted to pay off their debt. God taught him to be faithful in little things, so that they paid it off much faster. You must be faithful in the small things where you are now. Romans 12:1-2 is where following God’s will begins: by renewing your mind by the Word of God. You have the good, acceptable, and the perfect will of God. As you grow, you move onto another level. When you are in the perfect will of God you can have joy. You can sing because you know you are where you are to be. In Acts 16:16-22 Paul cast out a demon spirit in a girl used by divination. It was a hard road and cost him a jail sentence. When things come against us, we have what it takes to overcome it. We cannot go by our circumstances. Pastor Jay shared a story about a job he did in a multi-million dollar house. He stood on Philippians 4:19 for God to supply his need. He had joy, and it turned into a financial miracle that kept growing, because he was in the will of God. We have a tendency to look at our situation as the worst, if you cannot believe for things bigger than yourself. Say, “I will think on something other than my problem.” You end up being what you think in your heart. Meditate on the Word and the good, and the good will come out. Paul and Silas worshiped because they loved God not because they were trying to get out of something. When you are going through things, get your eyes onto our Creator and onto other people. When you are in a bad situation, find someone who is in a worse place than you are that you can help. If you will get your eyes off yourself, then you can have joy. Live for things bigger than yourself. Paul’s vision was bigger than himself (Philippians 1:3, 4). Get your eyes on Jesus and other people, and the joy of the Lord will bubble out of you. When you know the will of God, you immediately do something (Acts 16:10). Knowing, following, and fulfilling the will of the Lord will bring you joy.

The Secret to Joy – Dec 28

(There was a word given about worshiping from our hearts, not from our lips only.) Philippians 4:4 tells us to rejoice in the Lord always. You can always praise God. Paul and Silas ministered to the other prisoners (Acts 16:23-27). The earthquake opened all the doors and loosed all the chains, but no one fled. The prisoners stayed because they were being ministered to. Paul knew what the will of God was, because God had given him a vision (Acts 16:9-10). You need to know what is the will of God for yourself. Sometimes we get ourselves into fixes because we do not obey. Ephesians 5:17 tells us to know what the will of God is.  God knew us long before we were formed in our mother’s womb (Psalm 139:15-16). There is a plan for your life, and it is for you to walk out, and then you will have joy. Trust God that He has your best interest in mind. There is a plan for your life and following it will bring you joy. He gives you the grace to perform His will for you. Know, follow, and fulfill God’s plan for your life. Paul cast out the demon in a girl used by divination, and the forces of hell came out after him. If you cannot follow Him when He gives you something small, He will not trust you with anything larger. Be faithful with little. Romans 12:1-2 is how you can know God’s plan for your life. We need to change our thinking by the Word of God. It is a process. You are responsible for changing your own thinking. It takes effort on your part. Preparation time is not wasted time. Get a vision on something bigger than yourself. We can be selfish. Find someone else who has a problem bigger than you, and it will set you free. Paul’s vision was to minister to others in jail. It was a vision bigger than himself (Philippians 1:3, 4). He was chained in his body but not in his spirit. Do not get impatient.
