After a brief review of Romans 1-4, Pastor Syd starts with Romans 4:13-25. God has the power to do what He says He will do. Context and the witness of two or three are important in establishing doctrine. Chapter five starts with peace with God through faith. Death happened because of Adam, and life came because of Christ. We, as believers, can have peace, but all are not walking in it. Being in peace is an individual choice. In Mark 4:35-40 Jesus was sleeping in a violent storm. He spoke “Silence! Be still!” to the sea. “Silence” means to be muzzled. A mark of peace is hope. It is not being resigned to a situation or the absence of conflict. Hope is a confident expectation and is part of peace. Romans 8:6 mentions the mindset of the Spirit is life and peace. Isaiah 32:17 says that the work of righteousness is peace. Romans 14:17 says that the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy. God’s covenant of peace will not be shaken (Isaiah 54:10). Jesus would be called Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:7). Be rooted in grace (Romans 5:3). God is glorified when the enemy is put down. We boast in the pressure, because it produces cheerful constancy and proven character (approved in a test), which produces hope. God’s love has been distributed to our hearts. Love overcomes the world. God’s DNA is in us. (Communion was served based on 1 Corinthians 11:23-32.)

Between The Cross & The Return of The Lord
She asks the question: How are we living between the Cross and the Return of the Lord? One way we are to live is by being separate from the kingdom of darkness, the world, and death, and being separated to the Word and the Lord (John 17:17; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18). God not only forgives your sin, but He forgets them. After salvation, you need to repent when you sin, be water baptized, and be baptized in the Holy Spirit. She quoted Romans 1:18-20 and told about Pilgrim’s Progress. What are you seeking in your life? What do you dream about? Seek the Lord first. Another way we are to live is in faithful, continual service, which includes work and suffering. Refuse evil and choose to do good (Isaiah 7:14). Jesus was obedient (Hebrews 5:8). If you cannot obey your parents you can see, how are you going to obey God you cannot see? What you start, finish. We are all in full time Christian service. Number three way to live: personal holiness. We are heading to a wedding feast, the marriage supper (Revelation). Prepare for the bridegroom, and make yourselves ready. (Matthew 22:3-14; Isaiah 61:10; Revelation 3:4; 19:7-9; 2 Timothy 3:1-6). Take heed to yourself that you are not deceived. Number four: God wants us all together before His return (Hebrews 10:24-25). We need other believers to cause us to grow, to change, to encourage, to build each other up, and to correct. Number five: global evangelism. Pray and bring more into the kingdom. Ask God how to reach them. Number six: endurance. Do not forget your first love (Philippians 2:1-18). Get ready for Jesus’ return (Matthew 25:6; 1 Corinthians 2:10). Spend time with the Father. Karen Burrows shared two testimonies of God’s intervention and provision.
Bond Slave or Love Slave
Pastor Syd addresses the issue of being a hireling or an heir, a bond slave or
a love slave. Hirelings work for their pay. They trade their time for
something, and when things get risky, they run away. (John 10:11-13) In
service to the Lord, a person serves because they love the Master. Do not
serve the Lord as a business transaction. Bond slaves do not have a choice in
the matter. They serve out of condemnation, fear, and compulsion. Love
slaves choose to be a slave for life because of love. They serve with willing
hearts and are in it for others; good. (Luke 17:7-10) Slaves serve others and
then serve themselves last. Heirs inherit, but start out like slaves when they
are young. As they mature, they turn into love children. Money takes on the
characteristics of the person who holds it. Heirs have an inheritance coming.
They may work for a time, but it belongs to them. God gave His Son (John
3:16). In the Old Testament, a slave had to be freed after six years
(Deuteronomy 15:12-17), but they could choose to become a love slave for
the rest of their lives. Paul introduced himself as a slave (Titus 1:1;
Philippians 1:1; James 1:1; 2 Peter 1:1). John identifies himself as a slave in
Revelation 1:1. Are you a bond slave or a love slave? God owns us. Jesus
bought us back. Jesus made Himself to be a slave (Philippians 2:5). He went
to the cross because He loved the Father. Slavery against your will is fearful.
We receive the Spirit of adoption (Romans 8:15-17). If you serve the Lord
because of getting the blessings, you are a hireling. (Luke 12:35-38) Be
ready for service. The remainder of the message was information about
making a faith promise for alms and missions giving, not tithes giving. In the
US 2%-15% of a church’s budget goes to outreach. CWI’s outreach giving
was 43%. Nine percent of churches teach on giving weekly, and 90% of

Romans – part 2
Pastor Syd teaches on Romans 4. Abraham was justified by faith, not by what he did. Satan’s masterpiece is the Pharisee, the self-righteous one. Abram believed God, therefore God considered him right. It was credited (the right to get something; someone else does something for you in your place; it’s because God is right) to Abram for righteousness, while he was uncircumcised. The time of God’s giving Abram the promise of blessing through a son was about thirteen years before he was circumcised. Abraham was not a Jew. (Genesis 14:18-16:16; Genesis 12:1-3) As Abram came back from liberating Sodom and Gomorrah, he met Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest to the Lord. He said that God blessed Abram, and he gave Melchizedek a tithe of everything, because he was thankful for the victory. This was four hundred years before the law of tithing. Tithing did not change, and it results in His provision, His reward to you. (Malachi; Hebrews 7) Jesus taught New Covenant principles. Abram had a covenant with God (Genesis 15). He had Ishmael when he is eighty-six. In Genesis 17:1-12 when Abram was ninety-nine years old, his name was changed to Abraham, the father of many nations. (Genesis 21 is when Isaac is born.) The promises are by faith and operate by grace (Romans 4:13-25). His Word overcomes the world and gives grace to do what He says. Call things into existence that are not. Say that you can do all things. Hope against hope (confident expectation). Abraham kept his faith, was strengthened, and was fully convinced that what God had promised He was also able to perform. Just like Paul on a ship destined for shipwreck, don’t be afraid. Take courage and believe God. You are credited as right when you believe God.

You know, My children, when you think of what’s going on in this world, and
most of you don’t even know what the enemy is doing, he is a defeated foe,
and I will have My way, and I will use you, things I have planted in your
hearts. It’s like Pastor Syd, things that he almost buried, but I’m not done.
I’m not done with you.
This church is a church after My own heart. It has been for a long time, and
I’m grooming people. I’m grooming people to do things they never thought
they would do.
Don’t cut Me short. I’m much bigger than you think, and I’ve called you to
do things you never dreamed of doing, or maybe only dreamed of doing.
The anointing power of the Holy Spirit is very real, very real, but you have to
get to know Him. You have to spend time in the Word. You have to spend
time with Me. You have to spend time on your knees, and these times will
take you to your knees. That’s a good place to be, because I honor that. I
honor that.
So as I speak to you in that still, small voice, don’t discount it, even though
you think it’s too big. Don’t discount it. Remember, I’m real. I am God. I
created heaven and earth. I created each of you to be and do and fulfill
great and mighty things in these days.
You’re My hands. You’re My feet. Be willing to do that. Be willing to follow
that still, small voice, because I love you. You’re My children. I’ve called you,
and I will call you for greater and mightier things than you ever dreamed of.
Be faithful. Be faithful. Be givers! As you give, I will give. It’s in the Word,
you know.
9 P’s In The Life of Joseph
Andrew Taylor is the founder of the APT Foundation, and his wife, Anne, is the founder of Door of Hope. He ministers in Indonesia, India, Australia, Fiji, and the South Pacific islands. He preached on the “Nine P’s in the Life of Joseph.” They come from Genesis 37, 39-47. The first one is privilege, as Joseph was the favored son. We are favored by God. The second one: the pit, where God was working out His plan. What pit do you find yourself in today? Third: peddled for pennies, as his brothers sold him for twenty pieces of silver, but God was there. Fourth: Potiphar’s house, where Joseph ran from the temptation of Potiphar’s wife. Your integrity may cause you to be persecuted. At this stage you might be tempted to question God. Fifth: prisoner, when he was locked up. You might question why you were born. Sixth: Preparation, perfection, purifying, and polishing, when Joseph emptied himself. Do you feel you are locked up by controlling people and situations? He was advanced as overseer over the other prisoners. Seventh: promotion and position, when Joseph is put into the second highest position in all Egypt. He was humble and could handle the promotion. Be humble. Stay humble. Eighth: palace, where the greater the preparation, the higher the promotion. Follow God’s plan, God’s way, and God’s time. Ninth: provision, when Joseph was blessed to be a blessing to his friends, family, and foreigners. He sought no revenge, but he loved his brothers. He was like Christ. Walk with grace and humility in the place of blessing. It is all of God, and none of us, so His kingdom can come.
Cast Your Cares On The Lord
How do we cast our cares on the Lord? We pray with all kinds of prayer, such as intercession, agreement, dedication, and petition. Do not worry or get into fear. We need to pray. Cast your cares on the Lord for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7-9). Satan seeks whom he may devour, but we are the objects of God’s love. Satan roars but don’t be afraid with cares, worries, concerns, and anxieties. Be careful for nothings, but be joyful. In everything by prayer with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God (Philippians 4:6-8). Pray in tongues. Seek first the kingdom of God. You take thought of worry by what you say. You can live a worry-free life. Worry is a sin. You can deal with thoughts by taking them captive to the obedience of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Refuse to agree with what the doctors say. It is our responsibility to go to God’s throne room and ask for help (Hebrews 4:16). Faith is not a parachute. Know the Scriptural promises. The Word is the sword of the Spirit. Worry only magnifies the problem. Be a doer of the Word and not just a hearer (James 1:22). Do not just audit the sermon. Take the tests, and know the answers, the Word. Write down in number order your cares, give them to the Lord, and then throw them away in the wastecan. Give thanks in everything, and be positive with the Word, and you will not be able to explain His peace. Think about the good report (Philippians 4:8-9). Do His Word.
Romans – part 1
Paul wrote the letter to the Romans on his third missionary trip. He was on
his way to Jerusalem and wanted to be there by Pentecost. It addresses the
Jewish and Gentile believers, first telling the guilt of the Jews and then the
Gentiles and finally, of everyone. He preached the gospel to believers. He
told them to tell the good news. God communicates with our spirits. We are
spirit beings having a soul (the mind, will, emotions) and living in a body. (1
Thessalonians 5:23; 2:18) Paul wanted to impart something to the Romans
in person. The theme of Romans is found in 1:16-17. The gospel is the
power of God to salvation for everyone who believes. He states that the just
shall live by faith. What God said by faith gives us faith. God's wrath is
against ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth. No
one has an excuse to not believe in God as evidenced in His creation.
Romans 1:24-25 is about exalting science and dulling a person's spirit.
Verses 26-27 is about pride, which is Satan's main attribute. There are
different consequences of sin. You can repent of sin, but there are sins unto
death, and there are sins you cannot undo. The wages of sin are death.
Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of homosexuality and
because they did not show mercy to the poor. Chapter two addresses
judging others and practicing what you preach. Circumcision is of the heart
and is covenant. Chapter three tells us that all have sinned. The law shows
your sin and your need for the Lord, but it cannot save you. The
righteousness of God is through faith in Jesus Christ. We are justified in
Christ. The angels cannot repent. We uphold the law by love.

What Is Grace?
(When you serve the Lord by serving others, expect to be watered back by the Lord and His people.) The word “grace” (favor, thanks) appears 156 times in the New Covenant. Do we understand it? What is grace? The dictionary says that it is unmerited favor. We incorrectly use grace and mercy interchangeably. Pastor demonstrated the grace of God using a bright flashlight. It enables you to see things, if you turn it on. You have to receive grace to use it. Shining the flashlight in your eyes is like misapplying grace. Grace makes things easier. Grace is available, even if you are not using it. Grace and favor are interchangeable. It is God’s ability, support, wisdom, helping you, empowerment to you, presence, and it is God doing for you what you could not do for yourself or your own. The charisma gifts, the five-fold ministries, and serving are called graces. It is the New Testament word that describes the fullness of the New Covenant that dwells in Christ and is available for mankind. Grace never allows God to overlook or put up with our sin. Grace does not make a situation acceptable. Jesus grew in wisdom and grace (Luke 2:40, 52). He walked as a man. He did not need mercy. Grace is the ability to not sin, but to walk supernaturally. Mercy is not getting what you deserve. Peter’s walking on the water was God’s grace. It brings you the victory (1 Corinthians 15:57; 2 Corinthians 2:14). You can grow in grace. Jesus needed God to open His ear, and so do we (Isaiah 50:4-6). We have received grace from Jesus’ fullness (John 1:14-17). The apostles witnessed with great power and great grace on them all (Acts 4:33). We have to step out to use His grace. Imagine you have great grace. Abide in grace in faith (Romans 5:1-2, 17). There is an overflow of grace. Grace with a right standing with God empowers you to reign in life. How do you receive more grace? God gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). 1) Humble yourself before the Lord. 2) Ask Him for help. Approach the throne of grace, so you receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Pastor led us in a prayer to receive more grace. Tongues, be loosed. Increase our boldness, hearing, and seeing. Thank God for the increase of grace to all parts of the ministry. Release words of encouragement by giving grace to one another.
Our Covenant is Better Than Elisha’s
God is not stressed by the things that are happening in the world now. Our covenant is better than Elisha’s, when God took care of him. Because of our covenant and because we have the Spirit of God in us, we have access to Him all the time. You can hear from the Lord for yourself. Elisha knew the plans of the king of Aram by hearing from the Lord (2 Kings 6:8-17). In retaliation, the king sent a huge army against Elisha. He told his servant to not be afraid, that there were more with them than the army against them. We have to walk by faith. Step out, stand firm in your faith, and He will help you. You carry authority. Elisha waited until they made a move, and then he prayed for them to be blinded. He led them to Samaria and then threw a feast for his enemies, and they never raided the Israelites again. Sometimes God tells us if problems are coming, but regardless we need to operate in the wisdom of God. Spiritual gifts are for everyone (1 Corinthians 1:4-8). God is for us (Romans 8:31-34). Do not be in fear at this time. Look to the One who said He will meet all your needs.
