J P from Minnesota shared his testimony of how he married his wife, Larissa, and was trained to follow the Holy Spirit’s leading to go to Rhema Bible Training School and eventually to Egypt. He described their lives in Egypt and told that he runs a Bible School for Egyptian, Sudanese, and Yemen students. His wife has a women’s ministry. He encouraged the listeners to be obedient to God’s voice, have a love for people, even for those who would hurt you, and to be driven to share the gospel. Jesus has qualified you to do whatever He calls you to do. Be willing. Pray for Egypt, and say “Yes” to Jesus. Pastor Syd read from Isaiah 60:1-8.
Victory Over Fear

Pastor Syd gave a word of encouragement to the older people, especially about the importance of prayer. He prayed for a few people. Sermon: There is trouble coming, but we will go through it unharmed. Pastor Syd gave personal experiences about the fear of death being irrational, and how the Holy Spirit in him overcame that fear. Fear is a spirit being, just as we are spirit beings. What are you expecting? Fear opens the door to what you are afraid of, but faith and hope opens the door to miracles and good. What do you do with the spirit of fear? Identify it, resist it by speaking aloud, and replace it with the Word of God. God expects us to produce fruit as His disciples. The fruit that remains is done out of faith, love for God, and impacts others. The worries of life, deceitfulness of riches, and the desire for other things block our productivity. We will have joy if we are fruitful, and if we keep His love commandments. We are to add to our faith: virtue, knowledge, self-control, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and charity. Suffering

Accompanying the gifts of the Spirit is persecution. Biblical suffering is promised either from persecution or from God’s discipline, which is never in the form of sickness, disease, or infirmity. Using many Scriptures, Pastor Syd explains how persecution followed the apostles’ preaching and ministering. We are to resist and fight persecution with our mouths. Pastor Syd expounds on “Paul’s thorn in the flesh.” There is deliverance and reward for persecution. Beware: Persecution can come from fellow Christians!

Scripture text: 1 Corinthians 12 and 14. Pastor Syd taught on the speaking gifts of the Spirit: tongues, interpretation of tongues, and prophecy. There are three kinds of tongues: tongues to God, messages to people through interpretation, and sign tongues, like on the day of Pentecost. Gene English shared about his ministry with Five Stone Fight Club in rescuing people in foreign countries. Chani Zimmerman updated us on their adoption process for six children. Troy Pfautz, Katie Everhart, and Jonelle encouraged everyone concerning their time in Ghana. Karen Burrows told of her miraculous protection. Text: 1 Corinthians 12:1-11. Pastor Syd continued his sermons on the gifts of the Spirit, featuring the power gift, specifically the gift of special or wonder-working faith. He explained the four types of faith: salvation faith, common faith, fruit of faith, and special faith. Special faith is only as God wills and is to accomplish a special purpose. Pastor Syd taught on the gifts of healings found in 1 Corinthians 12. Sometimes God heals through a believer with the gift of healing (Acts 28:1-10), and sometimes through the person’s faith to be healed (Acts 14:8-10).
