Integrity is soundness, that your “yes” be “yes”, and your “no” be “no”. Are we worshiping someone other than God? He requires our focus. Sin can be distractions that keep us from worshiping and focusing on God. Sin affects everyone around you. That person who heard what you taught or preached will be affected by you if they see you sinning. Repentance means to turn around. Repentance is continuous. The Word should be what you mutter to yourself. Focusing on Him means communion, prayer, and time spent with Him. The war to be a Christian of integrity is not over until you quit. You need to continuously present yourself to God. Do you want to be used by God and to be changed by Him? The One who created people and even the devil knows you and is for you, so no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises up in judgment against you, you shall condemn. Are you a person of integrity, or are you a hypocrite?  Focus on Jesus and be a person of integrity.

Where’s Your Focus

Sydney shares during the offering. Dale than introduces the special guest. Ethan Armstrong – Texts: Matt. 6:22-24 and Heb. 12:1-3. Checking out the meaning of “light” and “eye” and “full of light” in Matthew’s text, Ethen gained the understanding that the light is the spirit of the person, the eye means focus, and to be full of light signifies the knowledge and power of God. Don’t let go of your focus on Jesus. If you do, it affects you and the whole Body of Christ. Consider what Jesus did for you. He kept His eye single. Ethen exhorted us to connect with the vision of the church. Your focus changes your life. He shared his life’s testimony and what happened when his focus got off of Jesus. To run this race, it’s up to you as an individual to set aside your sins. You are the righteousness of Jesus, no matter how often you fall. Look to Jesus and the Word. Follow Him! Do what He says to do! Joy disappears when you get your focus off of Him. Are you connected to the church? Allow God access to your life. Is my focus where God wants it? Have I been personally serving God and the church?

Worship and Walls (Awakening His Generation)

Sunday August 19, 2012
Listen

Ethen Armstrong, via Skype from Odessa, Ukraine, preached on “Worship and Sacrifice”. (Rom. 12:1) Worship is a life lived for God, sacrificing what you want for what God wants. When you step into His path, He becomes your provision and protection. God has an appointed place for you. For the joy that was set before Him, Jesus endured the cross (Heb. 12:2). Do everything for Him; He’s done so much for you. Stay in the Word and pray, so it’s easier to hear the voice of the Lord. Don’t say, “I don’t feel like doing that right now.” Show your love for Him; it’s a daily walk of faith. It’s up to you whether you will worship and what you will allow to distract you. Where are you going to walk? Truly worship and serve Him. (Ethen shared what he is doing in Odessa through God’s help. He asked for prayer for himself and for Pastor Dale.) Brian Rohrer shares his testimony of running from God’s calling and preaches the importance of standing in the gap, to do what God has commissioned you to do (Ezek. 22). (2 Chron. 7:14) Get the Word in your life. Don’t question Him, but do your best for Him. Release what negative you’ve done and make it your testimony. Pursue God. Allow Him and others to teach you. Be willing. Show love to one another. God can break through walls. Get over strife! Pray and praise when you’re in prison. The final wall is Jesus on the cross. The walls fell when He said, “Father, forgive them”, and “It is finished!” Unleash the walls in your heart. Let Jesus in. Don’t make the power of the cross useless. FORGIVE!

Focus On Jesus

God loves us and gives us the free-will to choose or reject Him. We have the choice to choose life. God did it all, and now it’s up to us to choose. He not only tells us what we should do, but He shows us how to do it. People are watching you as a Christian. Heb. 12:1-3 tells us that it’s our job to lay aside the weights and sins and that it’s easy for sin to come at us. It also tells us to focus on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Jesus is our example. He endured for us and our salvation and so that people would have a choice for life. Matt. 6:22 The light of the body is the eye. Prov. 20:27 The spirit of man is the candle (light, lamp) of the Lord. The Greek word is the same for lamp, light, and candle. If your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. Matt. 6:23 If your focus is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. Matt. 6:24 You can’t serve the world (money) and God. Don’t let money be your focus. Your focus determines who you will serve. I Cor. 2:12 We have received the Spirit of God. You can lose your salvation if you get your focus off Jesus. Eph. 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are in the light of the Lord. Walk as children of light. Repent and turn your focus to Christ. Choose life, focus on Him, and He will bring direction to your life, and it will be possible to cast your cares on Him. Where is your focus?
