Pastoral care is the practice of tending to the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of the church body. It provides support, guidance, and comfort through personal interactions, crisis visits, and intentional listening to those who are hurting. The goal of pastoral care is to nurture and strengthen the church community by actively caring for its members.
At its core, pastoral care is a ministry of compassionate presence—the same way Jesus cared for people, especially those who were hurting or in need. It is through His example that healing and growth take place in individuals and their relationships.
Jesus is the focus and the lens through which we understand pastoral care. He is the Good Shepherd, the Truth, and the Gate—the One who secures, protects, and ultimately laid down His life for His sheep.
